History of Skimboarding

The history of skimboarding in the U.S. dates back to the 1920’s and early 1930’s when Laguna Beach California life guards used pizza shaped flat boards to skim across the wet beach sand as means of transportation. This was the first skimmers, over the years the sport and design of the board has changed drastically, but through the 1920’s until the 1960’s the skimboarder’s were basically found on the beach’s of Southern California, but that soon changed when people like Harry Wilson brought the new craze to the east coast in Dewey Beach, DE, area and opened his company Sand Blaster’s and the east coast craze was on and skimming.

Today skimboarders (called Riders) are found throughout the world and the sport is growing at an unbelievable rate…JustSkim!!
